Slaughterhouse & Carcass Processing Equipment for Halal (Zabiha) Facilities

Halal slaughter (Zabiha) begins with the animal, not the equipment — the method of slaughter, the invocation, and the facing direction are religious requirements carried out by trained personnel, not something machinery determines. But everything that happens immediately before and after — restraint, stunning policy, bleeding, and carcass handling — depends on equipment that's suited to the pace, hygiene standards, and documentation needs of a certified Halal facility.

KOMPO North America supplies slaughterhouse and carcass handling equipment to Halal processors across Canada and the USA, from single-station equipment for smaller plants to full processing lines for high-volume operations.

Where Equipment Fits into a Halal Slaughter Line

Restraint and stunning. Many Halal facilities use restraint boxes ahead of slaughter, with stunning policy set by the certifying body and applicable regulations (in Canada, CFIA requirements apply; in the USA, USDA/FSIS requirements apply, alongside your certifier's own policy on reversible stunning). Our cattle stunning boxes are built for controlled, low-stress animal handling ahead of slaughter — confirm stunning policy and configuration with your certifier and regulator before finalizing your setup.

Bleeding and initial processing. Proper exsanguination is a core Halal requirement, and the equipment downstream — bleeding rails, initial washing — needs to support a clean, efficient flow without creating bottlenecks that compromise product quality.

Carcass handling and cutting. Once slaughter is complete, our beef cutting lines and poultry cutting lines handle the mechanical side of carcass breakdown, portioning, and preparation for further processing — built for the throughput commercial Halal plants need.

Head, tripe, and offal handling. Halal processors often process a wider range of edible offal than conventional plants to serve their customer base, which means dehairing, head and tripe cleaning, and washing equipment need to be part of the line from the start, not added later.

Post-slaughter washing. Consistent, thorough washing between processing stages supports both food safety and the sanitary documentation your certifier will want to see during an audit.

Sanitary Design Matters More in Certified Facilities

Halal certification audits typically look closely at sanitation records and equipment condition, since carcass-stage contamination affects everything downstream. Equipment with stainless steel contact surfaces, accessible cleaning points, and minimal crevices makes it realistic to maintain the documentation standard your certifier expects — without slowing down a high-throughput slaughter line.

Building Out a Complete Halal Processing Facility

Slaughterhouse equipment is typically just the first stage. Many of our Halal customers also run further processing (grinders, bowl cutters, mixers), sausage production (stuffers, linkers, clippers), and packaging equipment (vacuum packers, tray sealers) downstream of the cutting line — all covered on our Halal Industry page.
